Letter from the Associate Principal

Dear Westbank Families:

I hope that everyone had a safe and enjoyable spring break. It is always nice to see the children back in the building after an extended break. Our teaching staff is prepared to finish the year strong!

LEAP

The end of the year is fastly approaching, and  Our 3rd-5th grade students will soon take the LEAP online. The dates are as follows:

  • Grades 3rd-5th: Thursday, May 6 to Wednesday, May 12 (Make Up Dates: 5/13, 5/14) (These dates are a correction from a previous post)

This will be the first experience taking the test for our 3rd and 4th graders as LEAP was not taken last year.  Parents will have the option to attend one of two LEAP information sessions:

  • English: April 21, 2021 (6:30 p.m.)

  • Spanish: April 20, 2021 (6:30 p.m.)

The sessions will be live via Google Meets with Q&A via chat and the link will be available so families can view at their convenience.

This information can also be  found in the letter from the Head of School.

In Person Instruction (5 days a week)

Next week, marks a change in the school schedule for in person learning.  As mentioned in the letter from the Head of School, students will return to in person learning 5 days a week starting the week of April 12.  Wednesday will no longer be ICP.  On Wednesday, morning carpool drop off will start and 7:40AM and afternoon dismissal will be at 2:30 PM.  Please remember that all students should be picked up by 2:45 PM and there is no aftercare.  Please plan accordingly.

Parent Choice ICP

The schedule for Parent Choice ICP will remain the same.

Sincerely,

Brandon Ferguson

Westbank Associate Principal

Family Liaison Corner
Dear ISL Community,

Children in the UK have been encouraged to paint rainbows as a symbol of hope. This brought families together to create a variety of rainbows, making people smile if they were spotted in windows. We thought this would be a perfect symbol to symbolize hope in our future as well. Usually rainbows come after the rains and storms. Just as we have had unusual times and overcome the storms in our own lives this past year, we have the hope of a better tomorrow.

We will be celebrating hope by having a dress down day on April 23rd. Your student is welcome to participate. Pay $1 and come dressed in the assigned color for the grade your child is in.
