Many Irons in the Fire

February 2019

Grace and peace to you, our dear friends.

1  George’s book, Maturing toward Wholeness in the Inner Life, is being edited in English, and translated into German, by two gifted young friends. So far it has been published only on our website: EifelFellowship.com. Lord, lead us as to how to expand the influence of this message.

2  From April 28 to May 4 we will once again lead a six-day retreat on “Discipleship to Jesus” (Jüngerschaftswoche) in Trieb, Germany with the Benecke family. Maturing toward Wholeness in the Inner Life will be our textbook. The retreat will include shared meals, Liturgy of the Hours, teaching, practical work, and spiritual practices. Lord, please bring the participants of your choice.

3  A small group at our parish fellowship in Phoenix is also taking a fresh look at discipleship to Jesus, and the Lord seems to be establishing connections between the German and US groups through personal relationships. Lord, continue to unfold all that you have in mind with this.

4  The English version of Hanna’s book A Garland for Ashes is being narrated by Susan in Frankfurt for producing an audio book edition. Susan’s Jewish father escaped Vienna as a teenager. In Arizona, Cheri and Hanna listen to every word of each audio file Susan sends. We are half way there, and hope to release the audio book soon. Lord, please provide the funds needed to cover the production costs.

5  The publisher of A Garland for Ashes in German (Meine Krone in der Asche) has miraculously reversed their decision and decided to keep Hanna’s book on the market. (They sold out of the first print run!) To close the deal, we agreed to purchase 800 copies in advance. Lord, again, please provide the needed funds to pay for these books, and show how to create new markets for this message.

6  Eifel Fellowship began as basically the ministry of George and Hanna, but God has taken it far beyond what we can do. A “new wineskin” is in formation. Historic Agency is a group of Christians who do ministry “rebranding” professionally, and working with them is proving very helpful. As we seek the future under God’s direction, pray with us for discernment and insight. Should we change the name? How can we best prepare for when Hanna and George are no longer here?

7  God continues to open doors! On February 18 Hanna, as a Holocaust survivor, was invited to pray at the session of the Arizona House of Representatives when a Resolution to include education on the Holocaust and other genocides in public schools was adopted. February 18 was also Hanna’s 87th birthday! See the photos here.

8  Our parish family is a continuing source of blessing for us. We are now between pastors and George has been asked to serve as part of the ministry team.

9  2019 is the 80th anniversary of the rescue of 10,000 Jewish children from Europe called the Kindertransport. Hanna was among them—number 8814. The German government is compensating each “Kind” €2,500, and Hanna will apply her payment toward production costs of the audio book. But the application process is proving long and complicated. Please pray for clarity and a good conclusion.

You are treasured gifts from the Lord, and we are thankful for you as we serve him together.

Our ministry with Antioch Network and Eifel Fellowship—cultivating reconciliation through prayer, teaching, writing and mentoring relationships—is based both in the US and Germany/Europe, and is made possible through the gifts of God's people.

Some of you partner with us through your giving on a monthly basis. A significant percentage of our operational budget comes from one-time gifts. Raising the funds for our yearly budget is always a challenge. Would you consider a gift to further this work the Lord continues to expand?

Checks can be sent to the Antioch Network office at the address below, or click here to make a credit card donation. Designate your gift to Miley-Eifel Fellowship.

Thank you!
