Dear <<First Name>>,
Cambridge Amnesty meets every second Thursday of the month
At 7.30pm at the Friends Meetings House Jesus Lane CB5 8BA.
We hope you will be able to join us for our Talks coming up this Autumn :-
12 September Dr Kenny Latunde Dada country co-ordinator for North Korea and Park Jihyun. She bravely managed to escape from starvation in N Korea to China but was sent back. This is a rare opportunity to talk to Park Ji-hyun about her experiences in N Korea and her treatment in China when she escaped. A short film on her life will be followed by Q&A.
10 October Paul Dawson, country co-ordinator for the Middle East, on Yemen and sale of UK weapons to Saudi Arabia. Campaign Against the Arms Trade (CCAT) supported by Amnesty took our Government to court to decide if our selling of weapons that would be used by Saudi Arabia against civilians in Yemen was legal --- and WON! Hear the thrilling tale of how this all unfolded from Paul.
14 November Paul Clark who spoke so movingly to us a couple of years ago on his time as an ecclesiastical observer in Israel/Palestine will talk to us again this time on his recent experience in Hebron.
11 December Bring and Share goodies for our Party with a session writing Christmas cards to greet 12 prisoners nominated by Amnesty HQ for the annual Write for Rights campaign.
We will also be holding our stall in Cambridge Market Square on Saturday 21 September. Peter and Sue will set up the stall at 10am to mark International Day of Peace. Anyone who can help any time between 10.30am and 1pm would be welcome.
Other market square stalls have been arranged for monthly Saturdays on 12 October (Death Penalty), 30 November (Write for Rights) and 14 December (International Human Rights Day)
Look forward to seeing you at one of our events,
Sue Woodsford, Chair
