Yemen and the Arms Trade Talk by Paul Dawson 10 October 2019
Dear <<First Name>>,

Cambridge Amnesty meets every second Thursday of the month
At 7.30pm at the Friends Meetings House Jesus Lane CB5 8BA.

We hope you will be able to join us for Amnesty's Talks this Autumn :-

10 October Paul Dawson, country coordinator for the Middle East, on the war in Yemen and the sale of UK weapons to Saudi Arabia. Campaign Against the Arms Trade (CCAT) supported by Amnesty took our Government to court to decide if it was legal to sell our weapons that would be used by Saudi Arabia against civilians in Yemen --- and they WON! It is NOT legal! Hear the thrilling tale of how this all unfolded from Paul.

14 November Paul Clark who spoke so movingly to us a couple of years ago on his time as an ecumenical observer in Israel/Palestine will talk to us again this time on his recent experience in Hebron.

11 December Bring and Share goodies for our Party with a session writing Christmas cards to greet 12 prisoners nominated by Amnesty HQ for the annual Write for Rights campaign.

We will also be holding our stall in Cambridge Market Square on Saturday 12 October on the Death Penalty. Everyone is welcome to help on the stall any time between 10.30am and 1pm.

Other market square stalls have been arranged for monthly Saturdays 30 November (Write for Rights) and 14 December (International Human Rights Day)

Look forward to seeing you at one of our events,
Best wishes

Join a subgroup and campaign together for humanity and human rights

Are you passionate about a particular issue, or would like to learn more about an area of our work? Come along to one of our subgroup meetings which focus on key Amnesty International campaigns.

LGBTI - Love is a Human Right
From the UK to Uganda, we're taking action to challenge discrimination targeted at people for their sexual orientation or gender identity. If you want to step up and speak out against the hate, then join our letter writing and other events. For more information, please e-mail amnestycambridgelgbti@gmail.com.

Human Rights in Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories
The Israel and Occupied Palestinian Territories subgroup works on human rights abuses suffered by people who live in this problematic area of the world. We sometimes write letters on behalf of individuals, for example, human rights defenders who are punished for their activities, and sometimes we address problems experienced by whole communities, like those whose land and homes are threatened by illegal settlements. If you would like to join, please contact Pam Manning, pamjomanning@gmail.com
