Notice for CIMAM Membership

At a special meeting of the board of CIMAM on April 8th 2015, Bartomeu Marí’s decision to resign from his post as Director of MACBA was discussed and acknowledged. The board agreed to endorse Bartomeu’s continued leadership of CIMAM as its President, an appointment he has held since September 2013.

The board also agreed that events at MACBA have raised important questions regarding freedom of expression, censorship and institutional responsibility, with complex ethical, legal and artistic implications. It was decided that these issues should be debated at the CIMAM Annual Conference in Tokyo in order to work towards a shared understanding of principles and common guidelines to minimize the likelihood of such crises arising. Members will be encouraged to share their case studies with the conference, which will be announced shortly on the CIMAM website.
