Your Own Personal Time Machine!
It’s been an unseasonably warm fall. But where I live, November is November, and yesterday’s sunny 21 degrees slipped to a below zero blizzard in less than 24 hours. Time to haul out the winter coat.
But even though the weather’s turning, there’s often a silver lining - a lining that is sometimes found in pockets.
How often have you put on a coat from seasons ago to discover a forgotten gem in the pocket? Sometimes it’s a receipt or document that brings back a moment in time, sometimes it’s a bus or subway transfer that awakens memories, and sometimes - depending on your luck that day - it’s money ☺ or an historic scrap of Kleenex ☹.
It’s like having your own time machine. Reach into your pocket and pull out the past.
In my case, it was a card from a taxi that I took to a really fun keynote late last winter. That card brought back the laughs and the people I met at that show. Not only was I happy to think back, it inspired me to connect with people who wanted to stay in touch. I learned what’s new in their world, they heard what I’ve been up to, and it reinforced our business and personal relationships.
Over these next couple of weeks - as you bravely face the change of season - how about reaching into your own personal time machine? Set aside time to re-connect with business partners, or catch up with friends you’ve been meaning to write or call.
Have a great start to the holiday season, and if you find something particularly interesting in your pocket, share it with us. I’ll post some of these in the next newsletter.
