Paul Huschilt's Expect Everything
The Forecast: Changeable

Ah, February.  The month of change – if you are lucky.

As I sit and write this, the snow outside is melting, and then later it will freeze.  Later still it will melt.  Then it will flash freeze and the squirrels, thinking it’s finally spring, will be stopped in their tracks.  Depending on where you live, If you like change, February is the month for you. If you like winter sports, you may want to hang on to January.  I guess what I’m saying is that some people hope for change, some want to hang on to what they’ve got.

Sound familiar?  Dealing with change is the stuff of conversations around boardroom tables, dining room tables, even the periodic table. (Seriously, how are there now more elements today than when I was a kid?)

As humans, we are always managing our way through change.  We can choose to fight it.  We can plan for it.  We can do both as long as we are willing to change our plans when reality hits.  We can ignore it and play catch up when we look around and realize the passing storm has altered the landscape and we must adapt.

This week, as you shovel one last time (if you are lucky), think about just how often you deal with change, and how often you don’t even notice the many skills you use to get through it.
