1. Gauge? Stainless steel sinks are classified based on gauge. Gauge refers to the thickness of the metal. The most popular gauges for kitchen sinks are 16-gauge and 18-gauge. 16-gauge sinks are about 20% thicker than 18-gauge. They are considered a "luxury gauge", have better sound insulation, and are more rigid than 18-gauge sinks. If you're looking for a budget-friendly sink, 18-gauge sinks are cheaper than 16-gauge.
2. Size? If you're renovating, you'll need to size your sink to your cabinets. In a new build, you'll have to take into consideration the width of your base cabinet. Generally speaking, a 31" to 32"-wide undermount sink requires a minimum base cabinet width of 36". A 35"-wide undermount requires a minimum 39" cabinet size.
3. Undermount or Topmount? Undermount sinks are mounted under the countertop. The sleek look of undermount sinks and ease of cleaning are top reasons to install an undermount sink. Topmount sinks are also known as Drop-in Sinks. If you have a topmount sink in place and are not replacing the countertop, a topmount sink will be your choice for easy installation.
4. Single Basin or Double Basin? Give some thought as to how you use your kitchen sink. Single-basin sinks (one bowl with no dividers) have gained in popularity in recent years. They're more suitable for washing large pots and pans. There are different configurations for double-basin sinks - 50/50 and 60/40 for example. There are also options in the bowl shape. Do you want angled or rounded edges?
5. Depth? How low do you want to go? 8 to 10 inches is the average depth for kitchen sinks. Ensure to choose a depth that is ergonomically right for you.
6. Scratch and Stain-Resistant? No brainer.
7. Commercial-Grade Satin Finish? Nice option!
8. Non-Porous Corrosion-Resistant Surface? No brainer.
9. Soundproof body?  Look for a sink that is Sound Insulated with thick rubber dampening pads and stone guard undercoating.
10. Location of Drains? Rear-set drains allow for more usable space in the base cabinet.
