We're also looking forward to hosting The Cavell Leitch New Zealand International Jazz & Blues Festival 25-29 May. As a lead in for the festival, we'll be presenting a special Ubu Night on May 20: "The Devil & the Blues".

W
ork also continues on one of our major productions for 2016 - Frankenstein. Bookings are available now for this production.
As part of our Education Programme we're running workshops during the development of Frankenstein and we're excited once again to host internationally-acclaimed aerialist, Jenny Ritchie as part of our workshop programme. Following the success of last year's workshops for children and adults, Jenny is returning to The Gym with a session for adults on Saturday 7 May that will focus
on developing good technique and confidence on a range of apparatus. This workshop will be aimed at beginners. (We can arrange separate sessions with Jenny for more experienced aerialists). See workshops details below and on our website. Places are strictly limited, to book, please email education@freetheatre.org.nz.

Having been a childhood gymnast, Jenny discovered her passion for circus in her early twenties and obtained a diploma in circus arts at Christchurch's Circo-arts training facility at CPIT. She has gone on to forge an international career in productions such as Robert Lepage's interpretation of Das Rheingold for the Metropolitan Opera of New York, Odysseo by Cavalia and Rigolo with Swiss Nouveau Cirque. Her talent and experience have also contributed to high profile New Zealand productions such as Tanemahuta Gray's Maui and the acclaimed World of Wearable Art. She has taught extensively for a diversity of ages and gets a major kick out of sharing her skills and experience with novices and advanced performers alike. Jenny has recently returned to Christchurch to further her studies and is currently working with Free Theatre on our upcoming production of Frankenstein.

Our term classes for kids and teenagers are also starting in a few weeks on 9th May (info below), so contact us if you're interested.
