Register to volunteer for Green Seattle Day in Cheasty/MT.View!

Our forest needs YOU!

Our neighborhood woods, Cheasty Greenspace/Mt.View has been selected as a host site for the seventh annual Green Seattle Day, a day to kick off our planting season and celebrate our woodland landscapes.

Friends, neighbors, families and community members are all invited to come out and volunteer for this special day.  We have over 800 native plants, shrubs and trees that need to be planted to transform the Angeline Entrance, our gateway into the park.  We will also be completing the Columbian Way Link; if you like robust trail building work, this is for you!

Event information:

  • Meet at 2809 S. Alaska Place 98108 (one block west of the CCity Light Rail Station); street parking available OR take the Light Rail!

  • 9:45-Registration begins

  • 10:00am-2:00pm-Green Seattle Day in Cheasty/Mt.View (we will break for lunch around 12:00pm)

  • We provide tools and gloves and lots of high fives!

  • Please bring your own sack lunch, bottled water/extra water and a snack for the community snack table.

  • Dress in warm layers and wear sturdy shoes.

The Columbian Trail Link gets some bucket-brigade-love at our October work party.
The Columbian Link entrance point from the southern Columbian Way sidewalk-this is walkable!  Come on up!
Opportunity Fund Update: Site visit to Duthie Hill Park with senior Seattle Parks staff to learn about best practices for mountain bike trails with Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance.  Proposal for Cheasty North has been submitted....
Lots of great things continue to happen in Cheasty/Mt.View!

Our geocache site (did you know?) continues to attract new and interested folks, Rainier Beach Family Center (operating out of the old Zion Prep School) is running pre-school nature walks with children and parents, and Sound Steps uses these trails as part of their training program.  This is all in addition to regular ol' neighbors using these trails for commuting, exercise, enjoyment and leisure.

These are your trees; this is your big back yard!  Come out and enjoy it!
