Cotswold Sheep on a Hot day!

CH Wool

by JC.H. Wool is a small business located just outside the Duvall City limits on Batten Road.  Chris and Christl Haymond raise Cotswold Sheep on their 12 acre “Muddy Meadow Farm.”   They also have chickens and turkeys, a Fjord horse, and seasonally raise pigs and a steer for meat.  In addition to growing their own meat, they have a large vegetable and berry garden to provide food for their family.

Cotswold sheep are a rare breed that has its origin in the Cotswold Hills of England.  They are a dual purpose breed, bred for both fleece and meat.  Their curly wool locks grow up to an inch per month, and the fleece has great luster.  Cotswold sheep's natural color comes in both white and black, the black containing many shades of grey, which spin to an interesting variety of yarns.  Cotswolds are a long wool breed, with medium soft fiber, and is great for rug making, felting, and knitting or crocheting outerwear, afghans, hats, socks and accessories.

Every year C.H. Wool shows sheep and wool at the Evergreen State Fair in Monroe, and at the Puyallup Fair. They have won many prizes for both their sheep and fleece.
Christl has been spinning her own wool for about ten years, and has been making locker hooked rugs for six years. She also makes braided roving rugs. She enjoys creating woolen crafts from start to finish - sheep raising to wool processing to a completed project. She likes having a booth at the Duvall Farmers’ Market where the public can see the beautiful fiber that comes from their sheep and what can be done with it.
C.H. Wool sells hand spun Cotswold yarn (natural colored, white, and dyed), curls or roving.  They offer raw or washed wool whole fleeces.  They also sell finished products such as sheep skins, locker hooked and braided rugs, trivets and coasters, and other accessories.  Every rug is a one-of-a-kind original. We are also open to taking on custom projects.
A photo book of past and present rugs is available at Christl's booth.  She would be happy to talk to you at the next market, or can be contacted via email ( or phone (425-788-7662) or check out C.H. Wool’s Facebook page.
