The 2014 season of the Duvall Farmers Market is from May 1st  thru October 9th from 3-7pm.

We welcome River Willow Farm, to the market this season, one of Snoqualmie Valley's newest farms.  Valorie Borden and Carly Baker have teamed up to bring fresh vegetables, herbs and plant starts from the farm, located just a mile south of Duvall on the banks of the beautiful Snoqualmie River. Throughout the season they hope to provide farmers market customers with peas, beans, tomatoes, corn, squash, cucumbers, carrots, peppers, greens and herbs.

The 55 acre historic farmland is owned by Valorie and her husband Andy Weiss.  The farm has a 1903 farm house and 1906 barn, and was the first farmstead to be designated a King County Landmark; the barn is also listed on the State Historic Register, as the Platt Farm.  Valorie and Andy spent a few years rehabilitating the house and rebuilding the farm infrastructure, then maintained a family vegetable garden.

Carly Baker is a Duvall native with deep valley roots who has traveled and interned on organic farms. She is passionate about growing and eating fresh healthy foods, and hopes someday to own her own farm with a bed and breakfast, serving food she has grown. Carly brought her energy and vision to Valorie and River Willow Farm was born.

The challenges of a first year farm are many, including lack of infrastructure such as hoop houses to protect the plantings in the early spring months, a small greenhouse, and the need for fencing to protect against rabbits and other predators. Decisions need to be made about how much to plant and how best to manage pests while adhering to their commitment to organic agricultural practices. It is a learning experience, but Carly and Valorie are also having fun. They look forward to this as just the first of many years at the Duvall Farmers Market.

Fresh Bucks Program

.The Duvall Farmers Market is happy to support the Fresh Bucks program at the market again this year.  Fresh Bucks provides consumers who receive SNAP/EBT benefits with extra buying power (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, formerly known as food stamps). By matching up to $10 spent per SNAP/EBT card holder on each visit to the Duvall Farmers Market, participants are able to purchase more produce from local farmers.  The purpose of the program is to expand access to fresh, healthy local food to low-income shoppers at farmers markets.

The Duvall Farmers Market will double the first $10 spent by a SNAP/EBT cardholder each market day. Go to the market information canopy to swipe your card and receive matching funds in Fresh bucks currency. Fresh Bucks matches for fruit and vegetable purchases only, not processed or prepared food, or non food items.
Once you receive your Fresh Bucks, you may purchase from any vendor who sells fruit, vegetables, mushrooms, herbs, or vegetable starts. No change will be given for Fresh Bucks.
