April 2017 | News from Youth With a Mission Constanta, Romania
Great expectations for our upcoming DTS
(above is our DTS staff - Dana, Patience, Sandra, Holly + James)
We are thrilled that our next Discipleship Training School (DTS) is coming up
soon. We already have 7 students from 5 nations and we are expectant for
more. This year our DTS will have a special focus on children and youth
ministry and will provide tools for evangelizing the next generations.

The DTS is a unique time where you step out of your busy life and focus on your relationship with God. Through the teaching, you receive a firm foundation that prepares you for college, missions, and any work setting. It is a time where many students discover their identity and potential in Christ, and develop a
heart to share God's love and truth with others.

The DTS is an intensive five-month training School consisting of two phases. The three month Lecture Phase takes place at our location in Constanta, Romania. During this phase,  you will hear speakers from around the world teach on a different topic each week. Some of the teaching topics include: Hearing God’s Voice, The Father Heart of God, Interpreting Scripture, Biblical Worldview, Cross-Cultural Missions, Evangelism, and many more. The Outreach Phase is a two-month outreach where you are able to apply all you have learned, on the mission field. Our next outreach will be in Serbia and South Africa! During the school, the students have the opportunity to get involved in a variety of local ministries. The school starts on 13 July 2017. Reserve your spot in the next school today and find more information on our website: www.dtsconstanta.com.
New look for the International Cafe

The month of March was a renovation month for the International Café! It was
time for a new and fresh look, and we have turned the café into a cozy and
warm place where people can feel welcomed and loved. However, the heart of
the café stays the same: Our desire is to have a place where we serve
(international) students and young adults in Constanta in an environment ideal
for making friends, learning new things, exploring the meaning of life, and most importantly, being in the presence of God. Many from our YWAM community
have joined the cafe team for this period of renovation, and we have been
coming together everyday to make new furniture for the cafe, paint and remodel We have involved one of the boys from Henri Coanda, where we also do
outreach. In this way, we hope to create a platform of offering him work and
vocational training in combination with discipleship. We love how through this
various ministries from YWAM Constanta came together to build the Kingdom
of God in Constanta.

Raising awareness on human trafficking
Earlier this year, our Henri Coanda Girls Group ministry went through a six
week course on anti_human trafficking. The girls in this group range in age
from 10 to 14 years old and are among the most vulnerable and at-risk category of girls to be targeted by traffickers. Our desire was to educate them on the dangers that are out there and prepare them for how to react if they ever find themselves in a situation that may not be safe. There was quite a lot of
subject matter for them to absorb, but many girls came faithfully throughout the entire course. We continue to pray that they will walk in wisdom and feel safe to come to us for help or advice in any situation.
New Staff
James is originally from the United States, but for the last 15 years he has lived on and off in different
countries doing various missionary work.
He has started and directed an anti-human
trafficking organisation and has led teams overseas for five years with different missions organizations. Since
November 2016, James has been a part of the YWAM Constanta community, helping with our Creative
Sustainability projects, DTS and King’s Kids. In his
spare time he enjoys writing short novels for financial
and recreational value.
My name is Sandra and I'm Brazilian. I first came to
Romania at the very end of 2013 to volunteer with the International Cafe for 9 months, teaching an English workshop. I came back to join YWAM Constanta as
staff in the summer of 2016 and I am really excited for what is ahead. I like to chat with people and get to
know them better. I like watching movie, action
movies are my favorite type. I also like photography,
traveling, and learning and discussing about different cultures. I love to cook- it is my hobby, and I enjoy
inviting people for meals as this is my way of showing love.
Note from the leadership
We find ourselves in a very exciting season, in which a lot is happing through us and around us. As you could read our International Cafe is being completely renovated as we speak, bit by bit the students for our upcoming Dts in July are applying and we are finding new opportunities for ministry to our city: by including young Turkish men in building the furniture of the cafe, we are introducing them to a different culture and life with Jesus.

What started out as a project, we are hoping to grow into a small business in which we hire young man from disadvantaged backgrounds and by working, praying and discovering Jesus together, form them into disciples of Jesus. Another opportunity arose when we came in contact with a new orphanage. Now our staff is teaching the kids English and so building relationship and sharing the love of Jesus with them.

But still there are parts of our city that we are not reaching out to. I am thinking of Mamaia: a beach resort with hundreds of hotels, clubs, bars and restaurants where thousands of people come each summer to spend their holidays on the beach throughout the day and partying throughout the night. Would it not be great to have these people going back home completely changed because of an encounter with Jesus? I invite you to come and explore different options to be involved in our community here in Constanta, long term or short term. Whether through teaching English, carpentry skills, or a desire to see people encounter Jesus when they are just recovering from their hangover.

Blessings!
