Elementary School Welcome Circles

On Tues, Sept 8 and Wed, Sept 9, we are going to start the elementary school days with "Welcome Circles".
Staff will be meeting students and parents and escorting them to the back field where grades will be gathering in large circles.  Parents and students will be able to 'meet' their teachers in a safe, physically distanced way.  After some introductions and activities, teachers will lead their classes into their rooms.

On Thursday and Friday, students will head directly to their classrooms...but please note that all entrances will be supervised by a staff member.
Daily Health Check

All families will receive a laminated copy of the PCS Daily Health Check. Please ensure you go through the list every day prior to sending your children to school.
No School Bus Service Sept 8 and Sept 9

Regular School bus service will begin on Thursday, Sept 10. If you are interested in learning more about the PCS bus service please go to
School Supplies
Grades 1-7 please bring them to your first day "Welcome Circle" and your teacher will help you get things sorted in your classrooms that morning.
Grades 8-12 remember that the lockers are not being used for now.  Please be ready to carry your supplies with you.  Your teachers will let your know about specific supplies that you will need.

More Elementary School Information Coming Your Way
On Friday, Mr. Turkin will be sending out an email to all elementary school families.  It will include much of what is in this Thumbnail and more details around other elementary topics.

You will also be receiving information about what class and teacher your children have been assigned to.  Please watch for that email sometime on Friday.
To mask or not to mask?
A reminder that all adults are required to wear a mask in common areas.
K-5 students are not required to wear masks.
Grade 6 and 7 will wear masks when they are not in their learning group.
Grades 8-12 will need to wear masks in common areas and when appropriate in classrooms.
Student drop off protocols.
Elementary: On Tues and Wed next week, elementary students will be lead to their "Welcome Circles" on the back field.  Moving forward, parents are asked to drop off their elementary children at their designated times.

Secondary: When students arrive on Tuesday and Wednesday, they will see staff outside who will give them instructions on where to go for their first class. Anyone who hasn't picked up their schedule by Thursday will follow the same procedure.

Back to School Survey results
Thank you for letting us know your preference for back-to-school.  We have been busy compiling the data, making lists, calling many families and working for a smooth start. Some data for your long-weekend conversations:
  • 81-89% of our students will be in class, full-time
  • 7% of our K-9 students will be doing remote learning
  • several families are still deciding
We're looking forward to the start of school and seeing all these numbers turn into wonderful students who are striving for "Educational Excellence to the Glory of God" :)
Remote Learning
Yes, 7% of our K-9 students will be doing remote learning to start the school year.  We're working on staffing the program and look forward to helping the students launch their new year.  Remote learners - watch for emails coming soon.
The first SOFund order will be due by 1:00pm on Tuesday, Sept 15.

If you're not already part of this program, it's the perfect time to join and begin to SAVE MONEY towards your child's school activities for the years ahead.

Eligible activities include trips, sports teams, lunch cards, gym strip, Grad activities and more (basically anything you would write a cheque to PCS for except tuition).
