Over the last 6 years, since moving back to Victoria, I‘ve become increasingly accustomed to the weather and change of seasons throughout the year.

As we head into Christmas, I still feel a sense of novelty at the cold, sometimes freezing temperatures and occasional snow that I never experienced while growing up in Australia. Usually by the end of January I’m more than ready for the brighter, drier and warmer days of spring.

Since its founding in 1960, PCS has been through many seasons of its own. Growth in students, staff and facilities has been constant through its history and the last few years have seen changes in long term leadership and the retirement of a number of our most senior staff.

During the second half of 2019, the PCS Board of Directors has continued working on what our school and facilities will look like for the generations to come. Planning for the future while continuing to meet immediate needs has been a focus of both the Board and Campus Renewal Committee. At our November Town Hall Meeting a number of options for significantly updating our property and expanding our facilities were put forward for comments and feedback.

While we are still in the very early stages of master planning, it is exciting to look at the possibilities of what our school could become and how that might impact our community. On the flip side it can also be very daunting to look at plans stretching out 5, 10 and 15 years into the future and the associated costs involved.

In Psalm 77 the writer talks about God’s mighty deeds and blessings of the past. By looking back at God’s faithfulness, he gains renewed confidence in what the Lord can do. As the PCS community, we do not need to look very hard to see the evidence of God’s blessings, in both 2019 and our many past seasons. It is in reflecting on these we know we can trust him with what our future holds.

As the year draws to a close, I hope you would be reminded of God’s past goodness as well as his promises for the future. On behalf the PCS Board we wish you a blessed Christmas and safe holiday period with family and loved ones. We thank you for being part of the PCS family and look forward to what lies ahead in 2020 and beyond.

God bless,
Philip Slater
PCS Board Chair
