The road to 2.5

August 5th, 2016

Welcome to the all-new Star Citizen newsletter, aimed at keeping you up to date on our progress making Star Citizen and Squadron 42. Every week, we’ll be collecting some of the best content our team has created, updates from our incredible community as well as an exclusive sneak peek of something in development.
Highlights from this week include a great episode of Around the Verse that reveals a first look at what our larger crashed or wrecked starships will look like, the latest Monthly Report of progress updates from all our studios (which is available on the Comm-Link now), and a new cross-promotion with our friends at Shroud of the Avatar, who have reached a very important milestone, full persistence, which they are celebrating with their “World Start” event. You can pick up an exclusive package that gives you access to both games. You can learn more about that offer here.
As I write this, the team is putting Star Citizen Alpha version 2.5 through its paces. We’ve recently released it to the first wave of PTU testers, who are helping us identify bugs to smash and improvements to gameplay for the upcoming live release. Once that happens, you’ll be able to explore the Grim HEX outlaw base, fly the community-selected Reliant and try out the brand new Argo shuttle. This will be the first time in the mini-PU that we have different spawn locations and I’m excited to see what happens now that Citizens and outlaws have their own bases.
See you in the 'verse.

WIP : The Reliant

Star Citizen backers selected the Reliant as our next starter-class ship and we’re pleased to announce that it will be flyable in Star Citizen Alpha 2.5. With a distinct flying-wing look, the Reliant is like nothing else in the persistent universe. In this WIP article, reprinted from Jump Point, you can learn about how Cloud Imperium’s concept artists created the ship.
