Vale Shorty Jangala Robertson c.1928 - 2014

We were saddened to hear about the death of Shorty Jangala Robertson who died surrounded by family during the evening of 28 September. Shorty was a greatly respected artist from Yuendumu and was a core senior artist of the Warlukurlangu Artists. His work is much loved here at FireWorks Gallery, you may remember some of his vibrant paintings depicting his dreamings of the Warlpiri country in which he was born. Shorty will be greatly missed.

New to View:
this month at FireWorks Gallery

New to view in the gallery in October are recent paintings by Tommy Watson. Tommy, a senior Pitjantjatjara elder depicts stories from both his mother’s and his grandfather’s country. His distinctive topographical paintings are highly textured with  thickly dotted layers and bold colour combinations.
