Strategies to Boost Sinus Health and Minimize Allergies


Spring has sprung! As trees, grasses, and flowers emerge in all their glory after the long winter, many people experience seasonal allergies. This month’s recipe is a savory Tofu Scramble.

Recipe: Tofu Scramble

This yummy scramble is not only loaded with protein, the garlic and turmeric make it an anti-oxidant powerhouse. Make sure you use organic tomatoes and spinach, as they are on the Dirty Dozen list this year.
Tofu Scramble
1 small onion, diced
2 tbsp. olive oil
1 pound firm organic tofu, crumbled
1 cup organic spinach
2 garlic cloves, minced
2 tbsp. nutritional yeast flakes
1 tbsp.tamari
2 tsp. Dijon mustard
½ tsp. turmeric
¼ tsp. basic
¼ tsp. salt
¼ tsp. fresh ground pepper
10 cherry tomatoes, cut in quarters
  1. Prep the tofu mixture in a medium mixing bowl, combining the crumbled tofu, garlic, nutritional yeast, tamari, mustard, turmeric, basil, salt and pepper.
  2. Add the olive oil to a large saucepan on medium-high heat until warm, but not smoking. Add the onions and sauté 2-3 minutes, until they begin to soften.
  3. Add the tofu mixture to saucepan and scramble until tofu is beginning to brown and all the liquid has evaporated.
  4. Add the spinach, cover for 1-2 minutes, or until wilted.
  5. Remove from heat, toss with the tomatoes and serve immediately.
I like to serve this with whole grain toast and veggie sausage on the side. Field Roast Vegan Maple Maple Breakfast Sausage is my favorite and can be found at Whole Foods.
