Detox for Spring

Spring is a natural time to take stock of our health and to shed excess weight gained during the winter months. Nature provides many springtime foods that help the body do this naturally.

Berry Delicious

















I love using fresh berries when they are in season. I often buy extra and freeze them for later use. What I love about this smoothie is that it’s so easy and quick to make. It takes virtually 5 minutes to pop these ingredients into my NutriBullet. The protein powder, which is optional, helps to keep me satisfied and mentally sharp until lunch.

Berry Delicious Smoothie
 
¼ cup organic blueberries – frozen or fresh, in season
5 organic strawberries – frozen or fresh, in season
¼ cup spinach, packed tight
¼ tsp. cinnamon
½ tsp. ground flax seed
½ cup water or nut milk of your choice

 

Optional:

1 scoop of protein powder (I like Tera’s Whey Kosher Organic Grass Fed Protein Dairy)
½ date to sweeten (or agave)
