With this update it is my pleasure to share news regarding:
- two new appointments to the GRLI Board;
- our call for GRLI Guardians (applications due 29 March);
- monthly articles from the archives of the Journal of Global Responsibility;
- blog contributions from Dan LeClair (GBSN), Hilary Bradbury (Action Research Plus) and Victoria Hurth (via The Eth Word);
- and a final opportunity to join the 21-24 March Deans Cohort event in Burlington, Vermont.
With thanks to all who have inquired, responded, and accepted our invitation to join the Deans & Directors Cohort, we're looking toward to our March convening. There are still a few spots available for Deans and their Learning Partners to join a diverse range of participants which include among others: University of Vermont, ESADE, Babson College, Exeter, Guelph, Deakin, Wollongong, Sasin, WPI, Kent State and more. Following our previous newsletter, there have also been several encouraging developments in relation to the January launch of the Business School Rankings for the 21st Century report. On 27 January, the FT announced it will conduct a full review (paywall content) of its business school rankings methodology to include wider criteria. In response, a group of 30 institutions co-signed this letter (paywall content) published in the FT on 11 February, lauding the announcement and referencing aforementioned report.
Today we are pleased to share two newly published responses. A report-out based on the 23 January luncheon held at the World Economic Forum. "Dialogue at Davos" was developed by Julia Christensen and Claire Sommer and captures the voices and contributions of the nearly 40 business leaders, deans, UN Global Compact leadership, and guests who were in attendance at the launch.
The second is a blog post written by Dan LeClair, newly appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Global Business School Network (GSBN), titled "Media Rankings and the Challenge of Change in Management Education". We look forward to continued conversation in the months ahead, including at the March GRLI Deans Cohort meeting and in November at the GBSN Annual Conference in Lisbon titled "Measuring the impact of Business Schools".
Finally, for 2019, we have a limited number of Partner and Associate opportunities available, to complete a purposefully small complement of active participants.
