Dear Partners, Associates and friends of GRLI

The GRLI resulted from and continues to exist as an inquiry - what is Global Responsibility and how do we make it real in leadership and practice? To start this year - one like no other - we're inviting our partners and associates to share the questions and inquiries you prioritize for yourself, your institutions, and our larger, shared landscape.

These questions are shaped by what we experienced in 2020, and by what we hope for the new year upon us. Last January, we welcomed the start of the Regenerative Twenties only to have the pandemic change all our plans. As the second year of this decade begins, the immediate future remains challenging: continuing lockdown, financial uncertainty, professional disruption, and concerns for our own and our loved ones' health and wellbeing.

Our commitment is to carry and deepen these questions, appreciate and care for our relationships, explore what is possible, commit to the essential, and focus on What's Important Now.

Please take a moment and respond to this brief survey that will help us inform our prioritization and focus for the year.
January 2021 'What's Important Now?'
Starting this month, the GRLI logs all the pathways and actions of our work on a public dashboard called 'W.I.N. - What's Important Now?'. This will include relevant responses (without identifying information if required) to the above survey, for our entire community to explore.

The W.I.N? dashboard provides a summary of pathways and actions of the GRLI with links to the network participants and contributors. It encourages continued review and prioritisation of actions and helps the core team to advocate, convene and facilitate on behalf of those actions and programmes that are most pressing and relevant to our partners and associates.

Upcoming Events
Please note these key upcoming virtual convenings with and by our strategic partners and community:
  • 3-5 Feb: 2021 EFMD Conference for Deans & Directors General: Providing an opportunity to look forward as a network and as a community on what is next for business education.
  • 15 Feb: 2021 GRLI Board of Trustees Meeting: Holding the first of three 2021 meetings, with primarily a fiduciary responsibility relating to the proper management of resources entrusted to the community, and enhanced value creation in time of continuing uncertainty.
  • 21-25 Feb: AACSB Deans Conference (incl. RME Affinity Group) Convening business school leaders to address common challenges but, more importantly, to create and share solutions that will outlast the disruption and create positive impact. The GRLI and Deans Cohort will host the RME Affinity Group event on 22 February.
  • Please visit our 2021 Events Calendar containing higher education and business network conferences and events around the world where our Partners and Associates advocate for global responsibility and meet to progress GRLI initiatives.

As we work together this year - even though distanced - the call for the Regenerative Twenties is more relevant than ever: the regeneration of ourselves with others and the world we share. So once again, we say: Welcome to the Regenerative Twenties - and the realization of Global Responsibility in leadership and practice.

Warm wishes,

John North
Executive Director
