RCREEE Organizes a Training Course on “Concentrating Solar Power and wind energy”
RCREEE collaborating with Arab Union of Electricity (AUE), Morocco electricity national Office “ONE” and DLR, the German Aerospace Center, organized a training course on “Concentrating Solar Power and wind energy” on 8-12 October in Casablanca Morocco.
The Course, attended by representatives from different Arab countries, focused on important topics related to CSP technologies, solar resource measurements, solar desalination as well as CSP projects planning and the socio-economic aspects.
Wind energy was the other focus of the course; wind energy assessment, site selection and maintenance of wind turbines were the main topics discussed. The course program included a field visit to Tanger wind energy power plant.

Sustainable Energy Policies Road Maps in Maghreb Countries
RCREEE in co-operation with Paving the Way for the Mediterranean Solar Plan (PWMSP) project organized a regional workshop on Sustainable Energy Policy in Maghreb Countries. The workshop explained, reviewed and validated the national Sustainable Energy Policies road maps for Morocco, Tunisia and Algeria. Also, the WS aimed to enhance cooperation at expert and institution levels between Maghreb countries.

Iraq: Plans to invest $1.6 Billion in solar and wind stations
Iraq plans to spend up to $1.6 billion on solar and wind power stations over the next three years to add 400 megawatts to the Iraqi national grid. The head of the planning and studies department at the ministry of electricity, Laith al Mamury, reports that Invitations have been sent to about 25 leading companies to manufacture and install solar and wind power plants.

 Bahrain: Serious Steps towards Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency
The government has announced implementing a new 5 MW PV station in in the Awali Township of Manama. Besides, the government assured that the execution of “efficient lighting in the residential sector” project which aims to replace traditional light bulb with power saving ones. This comes within implementation of the government initiative to optimize the use of natural resources and the resources available.
