Happy 7th season!
 
BEC has been helping foreigners since 2010; in September we celebrated another season opening. In October we'll take you to the "in" neighbourhood of Brno's 19th century middle class  with Don Sparling as a guide. You have till the end of the month to submit your application for a creative project and win up to 10,000 CZK!

David Reid is the Chief Customer Officer at Kiwi.com. His biggest passion is travel, which is probably why he ended up at this fast-growing startup in Brno. The travel agency has employed more than 300 newbies so far this year.

BEC announces a new initiative for innovative projects created by expats – “Expats for Brno”. We'd like to increase public awareness of the foreign community in Brno among the general public. Create something you're passionate about – e.g. a workshop, concert, exhibition, web, set of photographs, music video, blog, theatre performance – and we'll support you with up to 10,000 CZK. Submit your applications October 31.

FEI becomes part of Thermo Fisher Scientific
FEI Company, the leader in development and production of high-performance electron microscopes, with its largest technology center situated in Brno and, at the same time, the largest exporter from the South-Moravia Region, has become the part of the American company Thermo Fisher Scientific.

Czech courses for foreigners
Autumn Czech courses for both beginners and advanced students are starting at Correct Language Centre in a few days. Don't hesitate to sign up for one and start speaking Czech in November.

Job opportunities for expats
At the multilingual "Jobspin.cz Job Fair Powered by Prague.TV" speakers and consultants will offer help finding the best jobs for expats. Aside from meeting with potential employers, you can also get feedback on your CV and learn how to prepare for a job interview. In Prague on Oct 15, free entry for those who register

Classes, parties and camps for children
The Little Gym Brno is currently enrolling children aged 10 months to 12 years for various exercises. The first lesson is free! You can enrol through an online form. For more information, please visit our website or call 515 535 573. Our program is in English as well. 

ISB is growing!
The International School of Brno has successfully started the 2016/17 school year. We are proud to announce a 20% increase in student enrolment, new staff members from all around the world and new modern premises for our Secondary and High School departments. Need a car? Carsharing is easy!
If you need a car, just go and pick up one! Carsharing is easy, clever and responsible service. Autonapůl, the first Czech carsharing, offers more than 20 cars in Brno alone - plus one 9-seater van. Many more cars are located in seven other cities across the country.

As a city with a long tradition of coffee culture, Brno celebrates the International Coffee Day (Oct 1) with a week-long festival full of special offers and workshops in cafés, barista competitions, concerts, exhibitions, and more.  
Janáček Brno 2016 - international theatre and music festival
Oct 7-18, various places
Twenty seven top-class productions over twelve days on twelve stages in Brno. The biennial festival consists of three strands: operas, choral works and multi-genre approaches to Leoš Janáček’s compositions. Tickets available online.
Brno 16 - festival of short movies
Oct 12-15, Kino Art, Cihlářská 19 
“Sixteen” in film-making slang means film format that is 16 mm wide; it is used in both professional film and television, but especially amateur cinematography. All films at the festival are provided with EN and CZE subtitles.
The Stand In (Záskok) - Jára Cimrman in English
Oct 14, Divadlo Bolka Polívky, Jakubské nám. 5, 7 pm
Jára Cimrman defines the Czech character and humour. He is a cultural touchstone much in the same way as Monty Python is for English speakers. A rare opportunity to see a play performed by native English-speaking actors in Brno.
Days of Cantonese opera

Oct 16, Sono Centre, Veveří 113, 7 pm

Six classical Chinese stories in a traditional art form that includes music, martial arts, acrobatics, and acting. Performed by a real Cantonese opera troupe coming from Guangdong province, China. Free entrance for those registered.
