      The 1st Brno Expat Fair,, is behind us - and hopefully, you enjoyed the Saturday with us at Tržnice. More than seven hundred expats came: we'll share the photos and videos with you shortly.
        Spring is still in full swing, though - have a look at our suggestions for your calendar for the next couple of weeks:

  Every year, Gallup World Poll surveys the level of happiness in countries around the world. Let's see where the grass is greener.

  I love it when the availability of a certain food signals the change of seasons, and medvědí česnek is a welcome sign of Spring in Brno!

Brno Business meeting #2: Hiring talents
16 May
Are you a foreign entrepreneur, a freelancer, or an investor? Or are you thinking of leaving your job to start a business? Every quarter we invite up to 20 people to an informal moderated meeting. The admission is free.
The next meeting will focus on hiring talents. It will be introduced by Ms. Eva Vacikova who worked on HR director positions for 20 years.
Family canoeing afternoon
15 June
Spend a leisurely family afternoon with one of the typical Czech outdoor activities – canoeing, with experienced instructors. You can try out the boats on the river Svratka and later enjoy a barbecue while the kids roam the playgrounds.

The legendary alternative "Goose on a string" theatre opens its doors to an international audience! This month, it will introduce three plays with English supertitles: Dynasty (Lehman Brothers), Amerika (an adaptation of Franz Kafka's book), Vitka (by Kateřina Tučková) - for some of these plays, they will also arrange baby-sitting.
Autobahn & Sam and Dan

BEST Divadlo is proud to announce its final show of the season. Two comic 1-Act plays, one of which –“Sam and Dan”-- is a world premiere; written by Jorge Elena. The second one, by popular U.S. playwright Neil Labute, is “Autobahn”—a series of short vignettes set in the front seats of family cars.

New theatre performance. A Czech-German team, using both languages with subtitles, plays an old lady dying, signifying the end of the old continent, as well.
Jenůfa (Her Stepdaughter)
18, 19, 25 and 26 May, Music Lab, Opletalova 1
Jenůfa (Her Stepdaughter) is a masterpiece of Czech realism. This play, which was the basis for Janáček's famous opera, was based on two news stories and deals with themes that still ring true today. Put on by Czech Theater, an amateur community theater based in Brno.
