BEC Newsletter: Let's not mention Christmas

BEC monthly newsletter 12/2018

Let's not mention Christmas
It's the first week of December so we guess you are already fed up by the Ch-world in your emails. We offer you a break - we'll try to stay as mundane and practical as possible, and avoid that word from now on. Deal?
Let's start with the first article. Isn't it wonderfully normal?

All the important things you should know about your Czech health insurance (but you probably don’t).
Written by expats
It’s tricky writing about Fury Road without the review turning into a laundry list of superlatives. It's in cinemas again for New Year’s Eve -  if you’re at a loose end, you could do a lot worse than to see this outlandishly inventive two-hour long car chase on the big screen.  As a public service for my fellow expats who may soon be visiting their home countries, I have some suggestions for gifts from Brno. This article was written last year but unfortunately, gifts have to be given every year. Fortunately, received too!
Invitation to our events

BEC Czech Retro Ch- ehm, Winter Party
13 December, 6 pm, Café Flexaret, Kopecna 21
As every year, the BEC team would like to invite you to an informal, cosy evening get-together. This year, we are planning a brief exploratory journey back in time - we’d like to illustrate what Czech (and Slovak) Winters looked like in the not-so-distant past.

Czech Ch- Mass by Jan Jakub Ryba
Dec 23+24, Alfa Passage, Poštovská 4
The most famous piece of Czech Ch- oh, let's stop this, we haven't done a great job of it anyway. It is Christmas time. And the Czech Christmas Mass is indeed a beautiful piece of music, composed in 1896 by a small-town teacher, Jakub Jan Ryba. It's now one of the symbols of proper Czech Christmas. It will be performed live by the actors of HaDivadlo theatre. If you are around, stop by.
And Merry Christmas!
