At the movies: Stranger than Paradise - Feels a bit like home
Stranger than Paradise understands that if you’ve got no money and no place to go, then everywhere is basically the same. Kino Scala is showing a short festival of Jarmusch films on Dec 27-30.
 
This restaurant manages to fill the currently underpopulated zone of “fine dining without the fuss” in Brno. The pasta dishes are a real highlight – freshly made with perfectly pitched texture.
 
Milan Kundera is one of the reasons that I live in Brno. He is in every sentence I write because he has had a profound influence on my punctuation. Not long ago, he performed a small gesture for me.

Yuki Higashino & Elisabeth Kihlström's art exhibition

The Swedish artist Elisabeth Kihlström (1988) and Yuki Higashino (1984) from Japan met four years ago in Vienna and have been working together ever since. Yuki exhibits new acrylic paintings on Plexiglas; Elisabeth's central theme of the presented works is the mobile phone phenomenon.

Oksana Marafioti is an American writer of Romani-Armenian descent. She has spoken extensively on social reform and cultural diversity. She's teaches critical thinking, creative writing, and literature courses at the University of Nevada.   
Don Sparling's tour of the former prison

An extraordinary building with a history dating back to the late 18th century. Originally situated outside the city walls, it gradually became part of the city centre. Very few people today know that even during the 20th century political opponents of Nazism and communism were executed here. An English tour for 150 CZK.

The Gypsywood Players - Spoon River Anthology

Czech Christmass Mass by Jan Jakub Ryba
Dec 23+24, Alfa Passage, Poštovská 4 
The most famous piece of Czech Christmas music performed live by the actors of HaDivadlo theatre, on Friday at 7 pm and on Saturday at 10 pm. Free entry. The mass was composed by a small-town teacher, Jakub Jan Ryba, in 1896.
