BEC monthly newsletter 02/2013

Brno city waste collection fee 2013
Beware of the changes introduced by the City of Brno municipality! The waste collection fee has been extended to all Brno residents  –  including foreigners – who stay here longer than three months and the responsibility to pay the fee is placed on individual residents, not your landlords / property owners. Get more information and have a look at some of the FAQs on our website.

Introducing our BEC team: Don Sparling
Another piece from the BEC team mosaic! In this part of our mini-series of interviews we are introducing the co-founder of both Brnopolis and Brno Expat Centre. Read the interview and find out what brought Don to the former Czechoslovakia as early as in 1969 and what he missed the most at the time. Learn also how he sees the BEC vision in retrospect, what could Czechs learn from the Canadian multiculturalism and - as a well-known book lover - what Czech authors he would recommend.

(Czech) Christmas story and picture contest winner
In the previous issue of the BEC Newsletter we asked you to send us your Christmas story or picture so you can win 2 tickets for a ballet performance of your choice in the National Theater of Brno! We are happy to say that some of you accepted this challenge and shared your stories. Find a minute and read the winning one by a Brazilian Helen Pelipecki.
