We will wrap up this year's Family Film Fridays season with The Lego Movie! (it was just released and we knew you'd want to see it)

Children's activities will include face painting, a Lego fire walk with Sir Troy's Toy Kingdom, games provided by MissionView Church, balloon animals and more!

Series sponsor, Premier Bank & Trust will provide popcorn and the North Canton YMCA and Character Counts North Canton will provide frozen treats!

Join us in Witwer Park (adjacent to the North Canton Middle School) for this wonderful family event! Bring a blanket and your friends and family.

North Canton is going to the dogs! 


The library is joining several community organizations and businesses to celebrate, and advocate for, man’s best friend during Doggone North Canton, August 3-9, 2014.

Monday, August 4 from 6-7 p.m.
Adult Program: 
Paws & Prayers will explain how to get involved in fostering a rescue dog, including supplies, contacts and expectations. You might be surprised how easy it is! 

Monday, August 4 from 6:30-7:30 p.m.
Meet Dee O Gee! A dalmatian/whippet mix, Dee O Gee is a certified therapy dog and will be visiting the North Canton Public Library along with her handler, Richard Grumz. Come read to Dee O Gee or speak with Mr. Grumz about certifying your pet as a therapy animal.

Tuesday, August 5 from 6:30-7:30 p.m.
Children‘s Program: Read to Sarge, the Tail-Wagging Tutor. Call 330.499.4712 x318 to sign-up for a ten-minute reading session with Sarge the Golden Retriever (adopted from 
GRIN).

Wednesday, August 6 from 6:30-7:30 p.m.
Adult Program: Crafter’s Corner invites you to come make an adorable no-sew dog bed. All supplies provided! Program is currently full. Contact nyoder@northcantonlibrary.org to be added to the waiting list.

The Stark County Dog Pound has made major improvements in the past year! Our new, progressive dog warden, and shelter veterinarian will tell us about the great work they are doing and how you can get involved! 

Thursday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the Children’s Department
Visit the children’s department on the second floor for activities, coloring contest and crafts all day. Stop in any time!

Friday, August 8 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
All Ages Program: Warm Paws Project – building dog houses for neglected dogs with 
Project REBUILD. Houses will be built at the library Friday and then painted and decorated at Saturday’s Adoption and Wellness Fair in Witwer Park. Completed dog houses will be donated to the Stark County Humane Society

Saturday, August 9 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Witwer Park, North Canton
Join us for a multi-rescue adoption event with 10 regional dog rescues, a live remote and prizes from Mix 94.1, face painting, crafts, food trucks, vendors, spay/neuter and pet wellness resources and programs for the entire family. This event will be held at Witwer Park.

Exploration Destination at the Main Street Festival


The library is partnering with the North Canton Chamber of Commerce to offer an "Exploration Destination" at this year's Main Street Festival. The festival will take place Saturday, August 16 and Sunday, August 17. 

Our 20x20 tent in front of the library will provide space for library information, partner organization information, children's activities, a prize wheel, give-a-ways and live entertainment!
  • Saturday from 3-5 p.m. - D.J. Jim York for a kids' dance party
  • Sunday from 1-2 p.m. - Elec Simon from STOMP performs
  • Sunday from 2:30-4:30 – On the Mic Entertainment provides a family dance party
