John Holland
With immense regret and sorrow we have to report the untimely death of committee member and former Chair John Holland.
He was also one of the founders of Portsmouth Cycle Forum, which was established as an independent campaigning voice after the council decided to cut the funding and close down their original version.
The full obituary can be read on our website

Repair Cafe Sat 16 Feb
You're probably aware of the Community Cycle Centre in Walsall Road, Baffins. They are a group of volunteers who turn out every Saturday 10am-2pm to repair donated bikes for sale and customers' bikes.
The Repair Cafe at the United Reformed Church in Kingston Road started last year and is now well established. They operate on the 3rd Saturday of each month from 10.30am-1.00pm.
Bring your broken small household and electrical appliances, bikes, clothes, jewellery, toys, etc along and get expert help from their volunteer repairers to fix them.
Everyone is welcome to this free event, although they do ask for donations to help keep them going.
There is also a café with coffee, tea and cake to purchase while you wait.

Tiger! Crossing!
This one is friendly - to cyclists! The Tiger Crossing is a bit like a zebra crossing, and usually runs parallel. It allows cyclists to cross, like pedestrians, without waiting for signals.
You may have seen work at the Bradford junction roundabout in Southsea recently. This is to reduce the width of the traffic lanes to slow vehicles down.
When this is complete the work will move on to Fratton Bridge roundabout. Similar work will be done here, including installing a combined zebra/tiger crossing at the top of Fawcett Road. This is being done to improve the east-west cycle route from Goldsmith Avenue to Winston Churchill Ave.
Such crossings have been installed in London and other cities but this a first for Portsmouth!

2019 AGM
Please ensure that Thursday 21st March is in your diary, as that evening will see our 2019 Annual General Meeting take place.
We're intending to make the event a little more social this time, giving you an opportunity to chat more informally with the committee about your ideas and feelings about cycling in our city.
If we've sent this email directly to you, you're a member. Which means you are entitled to vote and make decisions about how we operate. If you aren't, please join!
Once we have a venue set and time set, we'll be sure to let you know!
