Dont Forget: Dawn Chorus Day, Sunday 3rd May
An experience of joy and wonder
Sunday 3rd May is International Dawn Chorus Day. A group of us were very excited by the idea of heading off to the woods with bikes and children and picnic breakfasts to celebrate this wonder of the natural world. But then along came Covid-19 to stop us in our tracks. A group expedition is no longer possible but we can still capture and share the experience.
We would love to make a collage of your experiences to share, and create a positive memory of this strange and challenging time. Using your mobile phone is the easiest way to catch the sounds and settings. You could record your thoughts and feelings too, draw or write about your impressions. We will edit and collate your contributions to be shared on the Sustaining Dunbar website.

The Early Bird Overture will begin around 4.15am, or just before, with the blackbirds who will be joined over the next hour or so by robins, wrens, chaffinches, tits and goldfinches. If you’re lucky you could hear all this from the comfort of your bed but the full wonder of a spring morning awaits if you head off outside for your daily exercise a bit earlier than usual.

So set your alarm, get up with the larks, sing with the birds and share/send us your impressions of an experience that you will never forget. Email to:
