Dear Friends,

In just one week Hope Acts will be "Celebrating Home," at our special event next Thursday, October 18th at the Woodfords Club in Portland.  Please register and join us for food and drink, music, an auction and an opportunity to show support for immigrants and raise much-needed funds for Hope Acts.   You can find out more and register here.

And a quick favor: If you use Facebook, please go to Town and Country Credit Union's event page each of the remaining days in October and click to vote for Hope Acts in this grant competition. Hope Acts is the only organization in this competition dedicated to immigrant support. If we win grant funds, we'll use the funds to replace the worn-out beds and other furnishings at Hope House.

Please take a minute now to

1) Register for Celebrating Home

and

2) Set yourself a reminder from Oct 10 - 31: Vote for Hope Acts.

Thank you for your support,

Martha Stein
Executive Director

Join us at the Woodfords Club, Portland on October 18th!
We are looking forward to seeing many friends and supporters on Thursday, October 18 at the Woodfords Club, Portland. Celebrating Home is a fundraiser for Hope Acts' housing, English classes and other immigrant support programs. Please join us for food, music, a silent auction and an opportunity for us to gather and celebrate everyone who now calls the Greater Portland community "home." We celebrate the cultures and traditions of new Mainers' previous homes, which hold special memories for them.

Tickets are $40 per person. We also invite you to join our event sponsors and other donors whose contributions cover the cost of tickets for our residents and students. You can purchase your ticket here, or send a check to Hope Acts, PO Box 7615, Portland ME 04112 with the names of attendees.

Julia Trujillo Luengo, Portland's Director of Economic Opportunity, will be honored with the "Community Builder" award for her outstanding work raising the profile and contributions of immigrants to the city and facilitating partnerships between immigrant support organizations and Portland's business community.

Volunteer Bethany Smart will be honored with the "Heart of our Home" award. Bethany has deeply immersed herself in the immigrant community, gaining an understanding of both the gifts and needs of the community and the ways we can all benefit by supporting one another.

Hope Acts is grateful to the following business for supporting Celebrating Home and demonstrating support of the immigrant community. Gold sponsors of Celebrating Home are Hannaford Supermarkets and Verrill Dana. Silver sponsors include Coffee by Design, Clark Insurance, Norway Savings, Bangor Savings Bank, cPort Credit Union, Drummond Woodsum & MacMahon, and Infinity Federal Credit Union. Bronze sponsors are Bernstein Shur, and ReVision Energy. In-kind support: Rwanda Bean and Whole Foods.

Here's a really easy way to help Hope Acts!  Would you CLYNK for us?  If you would be willing to turn your recyclables into a donation for Hope Acts (in Maine -- bottles and cans that include a deposit), send an email to martha@hopeacts.org with your mailing address and we'll send you a few bar-coded bag stickers. Put the sticker on a CLYNK bag, fill and return the bag to a participating Hannaford supermarket.  THANK YOU.

Thank you, in advance, for your financial support of Hope Acts. Your donation today provides housing, classes, and a sense of community for immigrants, allowing them to achieve their goals for a successful future. Please visit hopeacts.org/give or mail a check to Hope Acts, PO Box 7615, Portland ME 04112.
