Dear Friends,

If you are in the Portland area, please come to a "A Concert of Hope" performed by social justice chorus, Women in Harmony. Hope Acts has been chosen as a partner for this concert, so we'll have an opportunity to briefly speak about our special asylum seeker community.
I was given a sneak preview of the lyrics to these songs of Hope. They are so powerful, especially during these tumultuous times. For example, I LOVE this refrain in "Room at the Table" by Carrie Newcomer:

No matter where you are, no matter where you’re from,
There is room at the table for everyone.
Here and now we can be the beloved community.
There is room at the table for everyone.
Thank you, Women in Harmony. We are delighted to be part of your beloved community.

I am looking forward to seeing many of you at the concerts this Friday, January 18th at 7:30 pm or Saturday, January 19th at 4:00 pm at Woodford Congregational Church in Portland.

With gratitude,

Martha Stein

Wrapping up the Holiday Season!
Hope House residents and friends were treated to a visit to Victoria Mansion (photo above). Many other acts of kindness were bestowed upon us during the holidays. Thanks to the many "Friends of Hope House" who bought new blankets for Hope House residents. We also greatly appreciate the bags of gifts for each resident from the middle and high school youth group of Hope Gate Way, Woodfords Congregational Church, Trinity Episcopal Church, and St. Luke's Cathedral. Everyone loved digging through the bags and finding handmade cards, snacks, warm socks, bus passes and more. You warmed hearts and lifted spirits!

We also appreciate all of you have made generous financial gifts to Hope Acts. You are making a difference in the lives of New Mainers.
