Dec 2015 Newsletter // by Ian MacKenzie
Dear <<First Name>>,
As I look out at the themes emerging from the dominant culture, here's one of the most prominent: 2016 is the year of redeeming the Masculine.
Catalyzed by everything from rampant environmental destruction, mass shootings, rape culture, the emptiness of technological utopias, and the rise of Feminine power - the recognition is dawning.
Rather than condemn the realm of the opposite polarity, we must collectively face the shadow, grief and ultimately, the healing of the Masculine.
Most of this work must be done by other men - women have shouldered this burden far too long. As Robert Bly had said, when one gender attempts to carry the pain of the other, it rarely works out.
As I begin to explore the vapour trails of the men's movement that has come before, it appears to have peaked then dissolved inexplicably in the early 90's. Since then, much of the work has gone underground, laying dormant for the conditions to ripen for a resurgence.
That time appears to be now. Praise to the teachers who have quietly guarded the seeds and tended the soil.
When men are willing to do the work with other men, it builds trust in the realm of women. And they can dive deeper into the work they have already accomplished. When the Feminine, within all genders, has safety and protection, She incarnates the awe and destruction necessary to burn through the labyrinth of abstraction that has led our culture astray.
Only through incarnation and integration can we collectively bow into the necessary action that serves the continuation of life.
Then we realize there never was a war, but only a dance instead.

DIE WISE - LOST NATION ROAD [Teaser]
Last October, I was invited to join Stephen Jenkinson and Gregory Hoskins on the road for the Die Wise tour - filming magical evenings in New York, Boulder, Berkeley and Austin.
Initially, we weren't sure exactly what the footage would become, but after the first night, I knew it had to be its own road trip film. This is lightning in a bottle that can't be explained... only conjured as best I can through images, story and music.
Here's the just released teaser for Die Wise: Lost Nation Road. Full 60 minute film coming in 2016. Please SHARE widely!

HOW EXPLORING THE FEMININE TURNED MY WOUNDS INTO STRENGTHS - TEDX VICTORIA
Very proud of my producer Nicole Sorochan, who recently gave a TedX talk offering the story behind her involvement in our film Amplify Her.
We first met in 2010 at a media conference and became fast friends soon after. When I pitched her the idea of a documentary about the emerging feminine in electronic music, she was skeptical, but to her credit, took a chance anyway. The journey of the film has mirrored her own journey in reconnecting with the feminine, within herself and the wider community of women. This is an amazing story that has implications far greater than our film alone.
THE NEW STORY OF FREE LOVE - TAMERA
Happy to share a new outtake from our forthcoming film HEALING OF LOVE. Benjamin von Mendellsohn, co-founder of the Love School, explains the "free love" culture of Tamera and the difference between arbitrary promiscuity and the wisdom to go deeper into the right form of partnership.
"Many times people criticise our research, our culture we built around love, that there is no chance for commitment, of going deep enough, because going deep enough with one person you can only do when you commit to one person, and for me this is one of the big misunderstandings because community that commits to deepening love will tell you when you are just fooling around and avoiding the pain inside."
