AHDH announces its 65th Medical Mission to Haiti
New Orleans, LA
December 4, 2015
Dear members, volunteers and friends of Haiti and AHDH,
We pray you had a great Thanksgiving!
Bonjour à tous
AHDH has just completed its Fall 2015 Medical Mission, our 64th since 1986, from November 14 thru November 30th, 2015, and the team, so elated to have had the privilege to be part of the Almighty’s plan for the less fortunate (Mission Report coming out soon), everybody, maybe in quest of more blessings, all signed up for the Winter Mission...
..Which we are pleased to announce, and which will run from:
-Team-1: Friday February 5th 2016 to Sunday February 14th 2016
-Team 2 : Saturday February 13 thru Saturday 20, 2016.
Please, take note that if Team-1 is pretty booked up, we still need an Anesthesiologist and a CRNA, for that team.
For Team-2, we need physicians, nurses and health care workers, but we must also have support personnel. We are counting on everyone's help for a successful mission.
Men anpil chay pa lou (with many hands, the burden is lighter, as they say in Haiti).
Please let us know as soon as you can if you will participate, or if you have any question.
Those of us who are unable to go, you can still support our mission and the people of Haiti by helping us with supplies, medicines, money for stipends for local volunteers, salaries for local medical personnel etc... you can also sponsor a volunteer...Nothing is too small.
Please help and let us know how and what you can contribute. If you need a note from AHDH to solicit support, please let us know.
** Please note there is a change to our travel plans. American Airlines does not have a 7:00AM flight from Miami, for the winter. Therefore we are asking that everyone meet in Fort Lauderdale to take the 6:15am flight AA 1158 to Port au Prince.
This will require that most of us leave home the night before (on Thursday, Feb. 4 for Team-1, Friday Feb. 12 for Team-2) and sleep in Fort Lauderdale. Arrangements at hotel already underway and will be communicated. We apologize for the inconvenience this will cause, but it is necessary in order to make our flight to Jacmel. We must all fly to Jacmel at the same time in order to avoid additional expenses, and keep our cost down.
To summarize changes: Team-1 will meet in Fort Lauderdale Feb. 4 and will catch the 6:15am flight Friday morning to arrive in Port au Prince by 8:12 AM; Team-2 will meet in FLL, Friday night Feb. 12, to catch Saturday AA 1158 to Port au Prince, so we can take an early charter flight to Jacmel together.
Return to the US: You may keep the most convenient connections for you, not necessarily Fort Lauderdale, but do not book to catch a return flight before 3:00PM, as we need enough time to fly from Jacmel to Port au Prince.
Please check with us so we can verify dates and times before final booking (at www.aa.com)
More details will follow for those who sign up.

Being happy doesn't mean that everything is perfect. It just means that you have decided to see beyond the imperfections.

The Association of Haitian Physicians Abroad (AMHE) has launched its first crowdfunding project to build a Sickle Cell Clinic in Léogane, Haiti by 2016.
