Pelvic Fractures

Maxime Coles MD, FRCS, FICS, FAANOS.
Orthopedic Surgeon and Traumatologist

Pelvic Trauma may lead to a disruption of the pelvis, sacrum, acetabulum and hip bones, presenting a benign to a life threatening situation. In the Elderly a simple fall can be catastrophic   while often in the younger population a high energy force will be necessary for a disruption. The pediatric population may benefit from a better coverage of the bone with a stronger Periosteum but they can be also involved in this type of injury.  Motor vehicle (MVA) and Motorcycle (MCA) accidents (43-58%) or Pedestrian such by car (22%) or fall from Height (5-30 %) are by far the most common mechanisms.  We will review a little the anatomy and the mechanism of injury and will discuss initial evaluation and management.

(suite)

Our Heartfelt Condolences To Our Colleague
To the Members of the Board of Trustees of AMHE
To the Presidents of all the Local Chapters

Dear colleagues
We have learned with deep sadness the passing on Friday January 10, 2014, after a long illness, of Jean-Edouard Muzac, the eldest son of our esteemed colleague Dr Andre Muzac.
Dr Muzac, a former president of the New York Chapter is now, though retired, still very active in the South Florida Chapter. We understand the sorrow that the premature loss of a son brings to a father and are asking him to accept our heartfelt condolences. We will have a special thought for him and his family and we will keep them in our prayers.
A funeral mass will be held on Saturday 25, 2014 at 10:30 AM in memory of the deceased at Saint Christopher's Church, 11 Gale RD (corner of Merrick Road), Baldwin, NY 11510. We are counting on the Chapters' presidents to disseminate this information.
