Meadows Event & Conference Center

Save the Date: June 4th HEN Learning Community back at Meadows Event & Conference Center

Registration should be available soon for the June 4th HEN Learning Community at The Meadows Event & Conference Center, but we want to share the general topics so you can identify which team members should attend the meeting:

  • Keynote presentation is Kathy Duncan, RN, Faculty, Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI), on SSIs and Pressure Ulcers. Kathy is co-leader of IHI's National Learning Network and coordinates the Improvement Map support care processes. Previously she co-led the 5 Million Lives Campaign National Field Team and was faculty for the Improving Outcomes for High Risk and Critically Ill Patients Innovation Community. Ms. Duncan was responsible for the Prevention of Pressure Ulcers and Deployment of Rapid Response Teams content areas for the 5 Million Lives Campaign.
  • The two breakout tracks on Hospital Acquired Conditions and Readmissions will feature presentations on SSI, Falls, ADEs and care coordination.
A couple of important notes on the HEN Learning Communities:
  • As we mentioned on the HEN What's Up conference call, due to CMS regulations and the recent pressure of government sequestration, we can longer provide coffee and food at CMS funded conferences.  This will be for the HEN Learning Communities only and does not include the IHC Annual Conference.
  • We are in discussions with Meadows Conference Center for alternative options: such as coffee and boxed lunches for purchase from attendees directly to the conference center.  IHC will  provide a list of food restaurants near by and sufficient lunch break time.  There is also a Starbucks on site.  We will communicate more information with you on the registration brochure and any email communications leading up to the meeting for more information.
  • It is now FREE to attend the Learning Communities. There will not be a $50 registration fee.

Stroke Registry Educational Offering: Coverdell Learning Community

The Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH), along with its collaborating partners at the University of Iowa College of Public Health and the Iowa Healthcare Collaborative (IHC),  received funding to support and strengthen the improvement of  acute stroke treatment and outcomes through the guidance of the Paul Coverdell National Acute Stroke Program (PCNASP).  Program activities will address the continuum of care from onset of stroke, through EMS response, hospital entry and discharge. The Learning Community sessions will be used to understand quality improvement tools, and provide the healthcare providers with opportunities to plan system responses for their regions of Iowa regarding efforts to improve triage and transport of stroke patients to improve care.

There is no cost to attend the Coverdell Learning Community. REGISTER HERE. The educational event will be held at the Genesis West Campus in the Conference Center in Pavilion 2 at 1401 W Central Park, Davenport. Further directions will be sent before the event.

Cleveland Clinic Patient Care Video

Cleveland Clinic released a video this year with a great message on the connection to patient care and hospital staff.  We think it is an inspirational, fairly short video that is worth the share!
