Hospital Spotlight: Alegent Creighton Mercy Corning

As of March 17th, Alegent Creighton Mercy Corning has had 160 days since a fall with no injury and 393 days since a fall with injury! They recently trained all their staff (including employed physicians) in SafetyFirst.  SafetyFirst is a proprietary tool that is similar to TeamSTEPPS that teaches leadership skills, process improvement skills and team skills.  This work is making an impact in all of their Partnership for Patient focus areas, most notably falls. Capturing Patient Safety/Quality HEN Success Stories

We are seeking to capture one success story from each hospital using the national resource Weber Shandwick. The goal is to identify stories that can help make hospital care safer, more reliable, and less costly.  Partnering with Weber Shandwick will allow us to capture the success stories in a standardized form that can be displayed with the network. Weber Shandwick is able to capture and scribe your content through a brief phone call, so it takes away the writing from you. Your Improvement Advisors and Nancy Thompson will be capturing this process, so please reach out to them with any questions.

Calling on Local Patient Advocates to be Represented Nationally

As momentum continues to build around PFE as a critical element of the Partnership for Patients (PfP) Campaign, they are working to expand the PFE Network to identify and include a broad range of patient perspectives across the United States. CMS is building their network of patient advocates and are seeking participation from patients or family members that work with you locally on your patient safety and quality efforts. For this network, the access would include participation in national conference calls or webinars to share their preference as a patient in the healthcare system. We are looking to recommend at least five from across the state.  If you have a patient advocate in mind, please email meyerr@ihconline.org.
