New Case Study Series on Care for "High-Need, High-Cost" Patients 
The Commonwealth Fund
The Commonwealth Fund is releasing a series of case studies profiling innovative programs designed for patients with the most complex needs—a high-need, high-cost population that accounts for a disproportionate share of U.S. health care spending. Readers will learn about each model’s key features, financing mechanisms, and early impact on patient experiences, health care use, and costs. The series kicks off with a profile of MedStar Washington Hospital Center’s Medical House Call Program, which is participating in the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ Independence at Home Demonstration. This promising program relies on geriatricians, nurse practitioners, and social workers to make house calls to frail elders who are unable to make it to the doctor’s office.

Building a Local Resource Directory
Iowa Cancer Consortium
Within the past couple of years, the Consortium's website has gotten a face-lift, and certain sections of the site have undergone content overhauls. Now, the Local Resources section is being rebuilt so that Iowans can look to it for accurate, up-to-date cancer-related resources near them.

Guidance to States and Pharmacy Manufacturers Regarding Value Based Purchasing (VBP) Arrangements
CMS released guidance to states and pharmacy manufacturers regarding participation in value based purchasing (VBP) arrangements.  The guidance also encourages states to participate in such arrangements as a means to address, as well as offset, higher cost drug treatments.

How States Can Fund Community Health Workers through Medicaid

HHS secretary upholds Iowa ACO as model for success 
The Des Moines Register
HHS Secretary Sylvia Mathews Burwell said health care systems across the US can learn from the example set by UnityPoint Health System, which in 2012 became one of the first accountable care organizations in the US. Tennessee SIM
National Center for Medical Home Implementation
In December 2014 Tennessee was awarded a two-year, $65 million State Innovation Model (SIM) testing grant to transform the state’s health care system. The grant builds on existing patient-centered medical home (PCMH) initiatives to encourage alignment across payers. Additionally, the SIM grant is working to leverage state purchasing power through a joint effort between public programs and a coalition of commercial insurance carriers.
