Hospital Spotlight: Decatur County Hospital

This week's hospital spotlight features Decatur County Hospital and their impressive strategic commitment to provide safer care by reducing harm through focused performance improvement. The hospital has embraced the work of the Partnership for Patients campaign by utilizing the Hospital Engagement Network (HEN) as a quality and value-based initiative to improve patient care.

Critical Access Hospitals - CUSP 4 MVP-VAP

What is CUSP 4 MVP-VAP? It is the Comprehensive Unit-based Safety Program for Mechanically Ventilated Patients - Ventilator Associated Pneumonia (CUSP 4 MVP-VAP).  The goal of the program is to improve patient safety and reduce harm associated with mechanical ventilation.

Johns Hopkins Armstrong Institute for Patient Safety and Quality has recently announced that a new cohort, cohort 2, for the CUSP 4 MVP-VAP will begin in November 2014. They are asking Critical Access Hospitals to participate! Dallas County just kicked off their "Be Wise Immunize" campaign on September 25, 2014.  The campaign encouraged fist bumping to reduce transfer of bacteria and additional ways to boost immunity during the influenza season.
