Hospital Spotlight: Great River Health System

This week's hospital spotlight features the Great River Health System and their impressive strategic commitment to provide safer care by reducing harm through focused performance improvement. The hospital has embraced the work of the Partnership for Patients campaign by utilizing the Hospital Engagement Network (HEN) has a quality and value-based initiative to improve their patient care. Through this, leadership has committed to the goals of the campaign and transformed their hospital into a culture of improved safety across the board. They have developed a 2013 HEN Annual Report for their facility. It starts with a draft of the annual report presented to the Hospital Engagement Network Committee on Excellence (HEN COE) to provide feedback, especially regarding the goals for the coming year.  The COE is comprised of leaders and the taskforce leaders who present their data in the form of an SBAR report at meetings.  Since that meeting in December, slight changes have been made and included the committee’s recommendations regarding their goals for 2014.  In the form of a PowerPoint presentation, this report is presented to the Performance Improvement Committee of the Board of Trustees for their approval as well.  The Performance Improvement (PI) committee receives a quarterly update from the HEN lead on the initiative. Their task leaders often include the data when providing their unit specific/individual reports on the 3 Ps (Performance Improvement, Patient Safety and Patient Satisfaction) to the committee during their scheduled time.  Ultimately weaving in the HEN into their regular PI work.  CLICK HERE TO VIEW THE GRHS 2013 HEN ANNUAL REPORT
