Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful is First Organization to Receive County Conservation Award 
Commissioners honored Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful with the County's fifth annual Theodore Roosevelt Hillsborough Forever Conservation Award, praising the organization's dedication to protecting the environment, educating residents about pollution and the importance of water quality, and building stewardship and volunteerism. Founded in 1989, Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful is the first organization to receive the award.

Infertility Awareness Week
The BOCC declared April 18 to April 24, 2021, as Infertility Awareness Week in Hillsborough County. Commissioners lauded the work of RESOLVE: The National Infertility Association and other dedicated volunteers, health care professionals, and members of the infertility and family-building community to remove the stigmas and barriers that stand in the way of creating families. 
Financial Literacy Month
Stressing the importance of learning about finances and having the appropriate tools in the classroom to teach those skills, the Board declared April 2021 as Financial Literacy Month in Hillsborough County and encouraged everyone to recognize the organizations that offer financial planning and personal budgeting to those in need.

County Helps Fund Local Affordable Housing Opportunities

The Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners approved an agreement with Habitat for Humanity of Hillsborough County to construct multiple affordable housing townhomes in Brandon that will increase homeownership and affordable housing opportunities for low-income families.

Acquisition Expands Alafia River North Prong ELAPP Site

The Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners approved a contract to acquire nearly 140 acres as part of the Alafia North Prong site through the Jan K. Platt Environmental Lands Acquisition and Protection Program (ELAPP). The purchase includes funding for habitat restoration and the construction of a trailhead and parking area to provide residents greater access to hiking, birdwatching, and other nature-based activities available at the site.

Incorporating Affordability Programs into Stormwater Model

The Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners approved the Stormwater Management Hardship Exemption Program to help reduce the costs of the stormwater assessment for low-income households.
