The Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners approved an agreement with the Corporation to Develop Communities of Tampa Inc., for the acquisition and rehabilitation of a 96-unit multifamily rental property on Busch Boulevard to provide additional affordable housing for county residents. The agreement provides for the use of up to $16.2 million of American Rescue Plan funds.

The Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners appropriated more than $2 million in additional funds for the Low-Income Home Energy Program (LIHEAP) program through March 31, 2023. The money will enable the County to help about 3,000 additional low-income, eligible residents with past-due energy bills to avoid service interruptions or disconnections.

The Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners approved funding to continue the CareerSource Tampa Bay Apprenticeship to Career Empowerment Program, which assists unemployed and hardest-to-employ residents gain workforce skills and experience to increase job competitiveness. The program provides opportunities for low-income youth, homeless individuals, victims of human trafficking, residents leaving foster care, and those with a prior criminal record to rise toward greater self-sufficiency.
