The Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners approved a budget amendment resolution to accept and appropriate $1.6 million from the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity for the Veterans Memorial Park/Resource Center expansion. The grant agreement will provide funding to add about 4,600 square feet to the existing Veterans Resource Center at Veterans Memorial Park, and an outdoor patio to enhance the center, as requested by the veterans community.

The Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners approved an agreement with the East Tampa Business and Civic Association to provide nourishing meals to residents in vulnerable communities. The $100,000 will be provided from March 1-Sept. 30, 2023, and allows the association to give up to 57,143 meals directly to residents via its Mobile Food Pantry. Meals will be provided at least once a month and at a minimum of four different locations in areas with a large population of seniors, low-income families, and other vulnerable populations throughout the county.

The Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners approved a $12,500 Community Arts Impact Grant, recommended by the County Arts Council, to support the University of South Florida Contemporary Art Museum Breaking Barriers project. Breaking Barriers expands arts access to military personnel and veterans, offering workshops in photography as well as an exhibit in the museum.
