County’s ARP Funds Target Resurfacing Projects

The Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners approved more than 120 roadway resurfacing projects funded by the American Rescue Plan Act. The initiative will resurface eight major corridors and roads in 89 neighborhoods, and repair 32 thoroughfares across the county.

Redevelopment Program Award Aids Community Investment

The Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners approved a matching, private-to-public capital investment Building Infrastructure Assistance Program incentive of up to $100,000 for the redevelopment of underutilized industrial land north of Tampa International Airport. The project is expected to increase the ad valorem tax base for this property, enhance economic activity in the area, contribute to job retention and creation, and improve neighboring property values.

County Funds Food Relief and Support Services

The Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners approved agreements with Metropolitan Ministries, East Tampa Business and Civic Association, Feeding Tampa Bay, and United Food Bank of Plant City to continue providing food relief and support services to address food insecurities in the Tampa Bay area. The funding comes from the American Rescue Plan Act.

I-75 at Big Bend Interchange Receives Federal Grant Funds

The Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners approved $25 million from the BUILD Transportation Grants Program for the Big Bend Road widening and I-75 interchange improvements from Covington Garden Drive to Simmons Loop. The project will enhance safety in one of the county’s fastest-growing areas. Scheduled for completion in 2024, this work, along with an additional County project, will result in the redesign and widening of Big Bend Road from U.S. 41 to U.S. 301.

Grants Promote Arts Activities Countywide

The Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners approved $267,500 in Arts Council Cultural Development grants for 17 programs. The awards will promote the development of Hillsborough County artists, institutions, and community organizations sponsoring performing and visual arts activities throughout the county.
