Did the Federal Government really tell teachers it's okay to diagnose and treat my child for complex mental health issues?
I mean, isn't it illegal to practice medicine in Canada without a license?
Dear Friend -
The answer to both questions above is "YES".
It appears that well-meaning people in our federal government made a terrible mistake back in 2010 and we are counting on the Prime Minister to fix it.
Attached you will find a video that was sent to Prime Minister Harper, telling him all about the mistake, along with an appeal from me on behalf of the parents of school-age children.
I know it is a long message. However, if you take the time to review it, you will better understand the risk your children are exposed to while at school because of this mistake and the importance of fixing it right away.
Please watch the video first, and then send Prime Minister Harper an encouraging note. He will appreciate hearing from you and knowing you support his efforts to fix this mistake.
For the record (and with my sincere apologies), after watching the video you will also see that I share some of the responsibility.
I was a Conservative Party volunteer working in the office of a Member of Parliament at the time the mistake was made, and I didn't even know about it.
Because if I did, I would have done something to try to stop it.
Please forgive me.
