What Is Full Site Editing And What Does It Mean For The Future Of WordPress?

If there is one thing you'll be hearing a lot of in 2021 it's Full Site Editing.



This is Phase 2 of 4 phases of the Master Plan otherwise known as Project Gutenberg. With the block editor pretty much "finished" WordPress developers have turned their focus on FSE.

With Full Site Editing you'll be using blocks to create and edit your headers, footers, sidebars and navigation. In other words, the block editor as you've know it is about to break out of the page and post content area so that it will work for the entire site.

And you'll be able to set your styles across the entire site as well.

But yes, way. There really are things you can do to quickly improve your site.

But I didn't agree with all I read. And some of these ideas are best housekeeping practices for any web site. Other ideas are what good web hosts do for your site automatically.

Still, you can do a lot of these quickly to improve your site.

Gutenberg And Elementor Are Growing. Pagebuilders Are Shrinking.

When Gutenberg (now increasingly being referred to as the WordPress Bloc Editor) was released at the end of 2018 many wondered what would happen to page builders.



Would Elementor, Beaver Builder, WP Bakery and the others grow in popularity?  They probably did in 2019 but that all ended in 2020 with the exception of Elementor. It continues to be more popular than all other page builders combined.

The primary cause for this shift to Gutenberg seems to be page speed, an important Google ranking signal.
