Full Site Editing Will Change How We Use WordPress
Hold on to your hats, one and all. WordPress is about to undergo a dramatic change.
"What?," you say. Wasn't that what Gutenberg was all about? Didn't we go through that revolution in December 2018 when the Classic Editor was shown the door and replaced with the block editor, Gutenberg?
Yes, but no.
By the end of this year, when WordPress v5.6 is scheduled to be released you will be able to use the block editor to change any header, footer or sidebar on your site. That means that all elements of a page will be editable with Gutenberg.
Oh my.
This changes everything - again. It was discussed in a WP Tavern post " Begin Prepping for Full-Site Editing With New Course on Block-Based Themes". While the article was written for theme developers there's no reason why you should not get the early word on what is coming your way.
This is just another step in the master plan of where WordPress is going.
It's early but it's time for you to have a look.
