2 Things That Should Not BE Included in A WordPress Theme

I've talked and written more times than I can remember about things you should look for when choosing a WordPress theme.



Some of that has changed over the year such as "look for a responsive theme."  Hopefully, we're past that stage.

But what should not ever be part of any theme? I've kept that a secret until now.

This is a bit of a story. This was the Summer Of Elementor for me.



Elementor is the number one page builder plugin for WordPress for good reason. It blows away its competitors.  And that certainly includes the Gutenberg block editor.

I had not seen or used Elementor for some time until we decided to use it for a big project for a non-profit. It is the most complete, feature rich and intuitive web design system for WordPress. Full stop!

I'm so knocked out about it that I'll be using Elementor to re-design my Joy of WP site which has gotten a little long in the tooth.

I'll be having more to say about Elementor and how it compares with Gutenberg in the weeks to follow.

For now, a major revision to Elementor was recently rolled out and the good people of Elementor explained  it all in a video post.

WordPress Trackbacks And Pingbacks Explained, Plus Why To Disable Them

Trackbacks and Pingbacks are two very confusing aspects of WordPress yet they've been a part of WP almost from its very beginning.



Trackbacks and Pingbacks are accepted by default for all WordPress sites . If you want to disable them - many people think you should -  go to Settings > Discussion and deselect the appropriate checkbox.
