Unacceptable Risk Film Screening
What:
A new short film featuring wildland firefighters who battled the Four Mile, Hayman, Waldo Canyon, and other Colorado fires. Unacceptable Risk conveys the high-stakes nature of the firefighters' work, as well as their commitment to tackling climate change to mitigate wildfire risk.
When: February 26, 2015 from 5:00 - 7:00pm

Fire Columns and Plume Dynamics
What:
Brian Potter, a research meteorologist with the USDA Forest Service, will present a summary of the state of science with respect to the airflow associated with fire convection plumes. This includes the concepts of plume dominated fires, adverse wind profiles, the role of atmospheric stability in fire behavior, downdrafts, and plume collapse
