On Wednesday, November 2, Rainbow Village’s Michelle Alcorn will
be joining us to discuss the ministry partnership between Parkway and Rainbow Village. Michelle, who serves as Community Engagement Director, will share about the ministry of Rainbow Village and will also discuss opportunities for our church to become more involved with them. There will be a brief time following the presentation for questions. The presentation and discussion will begin at 6:30 p.m. during the adult Bible study time.

Also, in our partnership with Rainbow Village, the Parkway congregation will serve as a family sponsor.  Part of the responsibility of a family sponsor is to supply a Thanksgiving Blessing Box for that family. This blessing box will contain non-perishable food items. Family sponsors are also welcome to include their favorite Thanksgiving recipes. The collection for non-perishable food items
will run until
Sunday, November 13.   Please drop off items at the missions table located in the elevator lobby.
Sunday, November 6
11:00 a.m. Worship

During the service we will celebrate Communion and will also be ordaining Janet Brown and Nita Norton as deacons.

The Women's Bible Study meets every  Tuesday at Athens Kouzzina Café in Sugarloaf Mills Mall (across from the theater) at 11:30 a.m.   "Twelve Women of the Bible" by Lysa TerKeurst is discussed  over lunch.
The Bible Study will NOT meet on November 8.

The Women's Book Club will meet on November 3 at 6:00 p.m. at LaMadeleine’s on Pleasant Hill Road for dinner.  Book Club study will begin at 7:00 p.m.  Evelyn Grant will lead the study on "The Red Tent" by Anita Diamant.  Future dates will be decided at the first meeting.  In the meantime, please purchase a copy of the book at or Barnes and Noble (both under $10) and begin reading.

Women's Crafting Opportunity on Sunday, November 6 immediately following worship service.  Lunch will be served in Fellowship Hall. Come spend an hour creating snuggles for shelter cats and dogs.  A snuggle is a small blanket or curved bowl that a homeless pet can enjoy at a shelter.  It's a great project for beginning knitters, crocheters, or sewers, and it's a great project for using up scraps for those of us with too much yarn or fabric.  If you would like to participate but cannot attend this first session, please bring any completed snuggles by December 1st to Jodie Samp for donating to a local shelter.  Please check out for pattern ideas (including no-sew) and information.
Annual Parkway Church-Wide

Two perceptions we at Parkway seem to share is that we are family to one another and that we are open and accepting of new people. Whether or not you share those perceptions depends, I suppose, on your personal

Rainbow Village....As a Family Sponsor, our youth group will be supplying and delivering a Thanksgiving Blessing Box for our family. This blessing box will contain non-perishable food items as well as a $25 Publix gift

Recently Parkway has connected with several new ministry partners. This affords us additional opportunities for our members to be involved in the community, representing both Christ and our congregation. Through these partnerships we have already engaged in activities that benefitted these organizations, their clients, and our church.

On our recent Day of Service a group from Parkway went to Peachtree Christian Hospice and worked on their grounds, improving the scenery for patients and their families as this organization ministers to their needs in the end-stage of life.

Also on the Day of Service a group worked at one of the residences operated by Developmental Disabilities Ministries. One of our members, Matt Pogue, directs the staff at this particular house, where four men who are developmentally challenged are able to live in relative independence. Our group painted the front porch and back patio.

Members of the recreation committee and other Parkway members hosted a Halloween dance party for Developmental Disabilities Ministries on October 22 and over fifty residents came from houses all across North Georgia.

Our youth have adopted a family at Rainbow Village, a residential center where families in crisis are provided with housing and support as they work toward independence. Recently some of our youth and their leaders toured the facility and brought a birthday present for the young person in the family they have adopted. Parkway has adopted another family as well and will soon be providing a Thanksgiving meal and making plans for Christmas.
